It's that time of year again. The grass is growing, the starlings have decided the letterbox is the closest thing they'll ever have to apartment living, and we have some great new wines to stock your cellar for the upcoming silly season.
The last few vintages have just been getting better and better so we are very happy to be able to offer the
2008 Chardonnay, 2008 Rose
as pretty smart examples of what we do.
has a touch more oak than last year to add a little more body and structure to the wine, with very ripe stonefruit flavours and the trademark balance that we aim for. Perfect with lighter seafoods over the summer months.
Our second shot of Cabernet Franc
has confirmed that this is definitely the pick of the varieties to use for Rose. From the beautiful ruby colour to the raspberry fruit and yeast / dried herb complexity, this would have to be up there with the best examples of Rose we have ever made. Lightly chilled, it is a hugely versatile food wine and my first pick for alfresco dining.
And finally, our
. With 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, dark purple colour and intensely ripe black plum and dark berryfruit characters, this is a highly drinkable, soft finishing red from a very good year. So good, it's difficult not to reach for a second bottle.
