Well, here we are at the end of another summer and feeling the first hints of the cooler seasons to come. But the summer was pretty good in Hawkes Bay, with a decent number of days in the low to mid 30s and warmer night time temperatures than we usually experience. This has resulted in some very ripe fruit about 2 weeks ahead of normal (whatever normal means these days) and the chance of another excellent vintage to follow the sublime 2013. We expect to be squashing grapes in about 10 days time and have some fantastic flavours and colours already on the vine.
After selling out of our 2012 Merlot/Franc late last year, we had to bottle some of the 2013 vintage to keep the supply chain fed. We have also raised the price for the first time in 10 years to try and balance out the relentless increases in excise tax and a hike in GST during that time. However, we also wish to provide benefits to our regular, loyal customers, so have reduced the internet price from $18 to $16 for the next couple of weeks on both the Merlot/Franc and the Syrah to give you an opportunity to stock up before winter arrives. Click through to www.redmetalvineyards.co.nz
and go to the orders pages for a secure payment system and to get the wine delivered free to your door.
And keep an eye out later in the year for the release of our top wines from 2013. They're exceptionally good, if I do say so myself...
