Arriving in time for the 2011 vintage, experienced winemaker Nigel Davies has returned from 3 years in Europe to take up the winemaking role at Redmetal. He is also going to manage the vineyard and will bring his vast experience to bear on lifting the Redmetal profile to greater heights. Nigel spent the last 3 years in Slovakia after an eight year stint as Senior Winemaker at Sileni Estates. Prior to that he worked vintages in Chile, Alsace and Hungary after cutting his teeth at Villa Maria in Auckland.
He's a great guy and a very good winemaker (and very good with young cellarhands as you can see below), so we are incredibly fortunate to have him working at Redmetal. And pleased to see wife Bron and kids Brooke and Morgan back here in Hawke's Bay to take up where they left off in 2007.
